And I agree, alot of it is self taught...I asked for a starting point and I have one. Currently read stuntguy's guide, very interesting and boring as well lol...
As for the fix from what I have been reading it is a timing issue between the IRD and Card. So if we know from MOSC that are currently running when the first byte is received or do we?we can put a value on that and append the last fix persuming nothing has changed as far as the keyroll is concerned? The other question is do we really need to know when the first byte is received? Can the Card not be kept in some sort of loop state until the byte is received. Of course I am just rambling but I will figure this out. |

No never said it ws your responsibility to start it, I started the thread dude lol. Merely suggedted for some of the respected coders and that goes for yourself to have some input or to encourage members to get off their backsides. If you would like to input, great if not then thats fine.. You have talked in other fourms, thats great, but as said this is techwatch so if you would contribute, I would be greatful and would also like the coder and anyone else as well. AS I say I appreciate your work, but I aint kissin ass lol...I dont care about this fix but would like to learn a bit more. I know there is no general tutorial on "how to be a coder" I dont want that, i'll teach myself dude but it aint easy to encourage people here. The whole N3 and iptv is jst an observation on how it could be seen, I wouldnt blame you if ya did or didnt. If your doing it for fun or for whatever, I couldnt careless. Anyway im rambling so feel free to help us help ourselves when we know a bit and give us a pointer when we need it. |

Hasn't this already been done to death in some thread somewhere ?
I seem to remember it all been explained pretty thoroughly with quite a few people saying they were gonna try some coding. I guess nothing came of it. People really do give up far too easily ! The fault is pretty obvious from the logs (although the logging doesn't actually capture everything due to a baud rate change). You can see it happening without having to learn the nuances of the Nagra command set. See'ing the problem should give you a pretty fair idea of where to look to try and sort it. Its really not that hard, which is why its been left for you lot to sort for yourselves as an "introduction" to card programming. |

The 3.7 fix and a keyroll fix are two separate problems both are good learning points but I would stick to learning the nuances, I like that word, of one of the fixes.

Probably done a million times and people give up but I'll sit and do this, well gonna try... mmm baud rates hop it has nothing to do with any change of frequency between the IRD and card and thus receive communication errors. Sitting readin this guide with the flu.....not helping but I will keep at it |

Right well im been looking at some of the logs last nite and today. Still trying to get my head round it all but anyway.
We know there was a firmware upgrade in some areas. I was looking at this in particular. 21 40 08 ; A0 CA 00 00 02 14 00 06 13 12 00 08 ; 94 04 0F 54 54 68 90 00 7D We know Roms are better than funcards, why because pretty they can respond to any request where as the funcard are hardcoded with the responses. If the response is not hard coded, it aint going to work. So look at the above its I think asking for the firmware, it wants to know the current status, now the response is the same as it was on 3.6 which intself is wrong. The last byte in particular "68" should be different but isnt. I take it this does need to change? Well im trying....any1 else.. |

Its nothing to do with any particular command or even the implementation of any particular command on Funcards. The problem is much more fundamental than that !
Look at the captured log that was floating around of a funcard attempting to run on a 3_7 box. Look for the anomolies and you''ll start to have an understanding of where the probblem may lie. You should spot the anomolies by comparing the 3_7 log with the 3_6 log. |

The difference between the two is seen on 3.7 log
21 C1 01 ; FE 1F 12 E1 01 ; FE 0C this repeats itself on a number of occasions. Would this be down to the card either not getting or receiving a response from the box as it would expect. We would then need to figure out what info it is trying to send to understand how to fix it Please forgive me if that appears totally idiotic as i'm trying to learn and get my head around this. |
