Nagra 3 is the new encryption system VM will be using to encrypt their premium TV channels. It is happening all over the UK at different dates and times. No, you will have to wait for a fix which could be a long time off. I hope this helps to narrow your queries mate, all that I can say is that free TV will be no more until a fix is available.

Hi clyde1,
hope i can clear up a few questions for you,
Nagra 3 in simple terms is an encryption tried and used in other places and deemed as successful to cable company's to combat people who use box's other than the original ones provided by the cable company(s). As far as i know no -one has got as far as "cracking" it to date, although there has been break throughs of some nature in other country's (think portugal) to which i have read,
It's looking like if it is introduced here , it will cause issues and will render the different sorts of cable box's / emulators as useless, Ireland have had many area's where this has been introduced and according to forums i have read, sales for higher packages ie sport, movie add ons have increased largely due to the success of this introduction.
So No you would not get the channels you get at the moment.
When is another question, some say don't worry till it happens others as you can read on different forums are in a state of panic now because they won't know which way to go when it does happen.
The Boxes could be out of action for quite some time if this is the case, then again i have spoken to people that say it may only be specific box's and not everything because of the feedback some individuals have given from Ireland even though it has taken place there?
I think to close, it is just a waiting game and unless your a real insider, don't worry until it happens, this place will go mental as it always does when box's go down, Or Nag3 is introduced, but i am sure, there will be more than enough feedback and info on here by then to make a decision on which way to go.
Hope this cleared a couple of questions up for you,
Rgds
Bigchap.
