I have a technmate 6900 HD Combo and have read in the manual that I should periodically download software patches. I see on this forum that other software updates are available. How does one discover the facilities of each and where does one learn how to operate them?

You can get the patches from alsat and it will tell you which channels it opens.
Currently the only real package available is Digi TV on 1 West, a very nice package with live football, general entertainment and films, check the link:
