Default Power adapter and locking connection probliems

I have found a very weird problem with the 250 / 255 modems and the power cable used. For the last 6 months I have been using a power cable from my WGE111 game adapter to power my modded modem. No problems with losing connection ever occurred. Recently I acquired a original power cable for the modem and started using that as I believed this would be better, being a proper power cable for the modem. Over the last few days the modem has been losing a connection every few hours. It will go operational for a few hours and the revert to a constant scanning / locked status.

Changing the mac used for the modem, computer mac or router mac does nothing to restore the connection. I have quite a few macs that all worked previously. I change the modem for a different one and it worked for awhile before reverting to the scanning / locked status again. I have 3 modems which I switched between and it occurred in all modems around the same period of time.

This is using the original power cable so there should be no problem, the modem is not over heating or anything like that. I also have another original power cable which I use for my standard modem (I use 2 in house), this causes the same problem with the modded modem. I switched back to the WGE111 power cable and now all 3 modems work perfectly again, with no loss of connection at all. The original power cable is rated at 10v 1.2a and the WGE 5v 2a.

I found this a very weird occurrence and wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Also if anyone else is having connection problems you could try this to sort it out.
