Hi guys,
I had a satellite installed yesterday so I can get slovak tv. We have everything but unable to pick up channels on 12565 H. We live on the south coast of England and get almost perfect signal (97%) for most channels with an 80cm dish, the engineer tried for about 6 hours yesterday trying to get the channels we wanted but no luck. He is back today with a bigger dish but just wondered if anyone knew why we can't get them? We are getting a skylink card so we can watch stuff like Markiza but the channels should appear (although blocked) even without the card, shouldn't they? Cheers Ian |

Astra 3A uses a spotbeam centered on Germany - the signal strength in the UK is very poor. You will get the stuff on Astras 1E & 1G with any scabby old dish as their signal strengths are very high indeed.
You will probably require at least a 1.2 m dish for all weather reception.

Hi, thanks for that, he's just put a 1m dish on and now has some signal (rating of 5.2?? - which is apparently good) but when it gets to the box it's down to 2.4 so he's going to get a 1.1 dish - do you think this will be enough?

Difficult to say - get a tea towel, soak it and drape a couple of thicknesses over the lnb. That will give you an idea of what reception will be like when it rains.

![]() Lol its a bit of a belt n braces method but you should see a drop in received signal strength. I cant take credit for it - its been around years!

Hi guys, a bit of an update,
I got the 1.1 dish and on a bright sunny day got 56% quality, which for what I need was fine - however, any other time i.e. when it's dark I am down to 20-22 % which isn't enough for a picture, but at least now I can see the channels, if not watch them (with a 1m it didn't even pick up the channels). The installer said I was losing strength from the dish to the box (cable is approx 12m), is there anything I can do i.e. use a booster to improve the signal through to the box? Ian |

Bigger dish required
![]() There isnt any substitute for more metal collecting the ultra weak signal.
