Default Starview 1 Prob

I've got a SV 1 that won't let me Update or flash with Gtrom etc,It doesn't go past 0 on downloading and after a few green bars it then goes into one of the few channels it has! I have read that turning it on and pressing Download at the same time loads it but this isn't happening,In the settings/version it reads:

Starview
API ver :2.54e_E
Boot ver : 7.0
15.May 2006

Would a factory reset help and if so what code would I need to put in?
REGARDS

2.54 firmware is for "The Box" (Starview 2)

Looks like the caps have gone, turn the power off and look for bulging or leaking caps.

By caps do you mean capacitors mate?

Sorry 254 is not a Starview 2 file, my mistake.

"Ronson" has given you the correct answer elsewhere.
