Default Printer Ink Problem.. no red?

My cousin have Dell AIO 942. It was working fine till last week but all of a sudden it won't print the red color, though it is printing other colors (green and yellow). Why's that?

i assumed you have separate cartridges such as cmyk or rgbk
try giving a shake to the r (red) ink cartridge, see if it will print, or try cleaning it on the printer's command just clean the red so it will spit some "clogged" red ink on it.

Hi - I realise this thread is old but I am having exactly the same problem now. Did the solution work or did you end up just buying a new ink cartridge as Dell's troubleshooting tips suggest? Ta!

Hi JohnGM and welcome to TechWatch.

If it's not a silly question, are you able to access the printer status screen telling you how full the different ink cartridges are?

Thanks Brian. The colour cartridge isn't very old and the status shows about half full, as does the black one. I don't really want to buy another expensive Dell cartridge if it's the printer that might be at fault. Cheers John
