Hi,

I was thinking of getting a motorised dish to pick up ART Arabesque channels.

While i was thinking of this I wondered whether it would be possible to pick up sky channels aswell? since the dish will be motorised.

If so what box will allow me to view both sky and art channels. I intend to pay for both services but needed to know if it is possible. Would the sky box allow me to view art channels if i put in the art card?

also mbc europe is on hotbird 7a, so would i be able to pick it up too? and is it a free channel?

I would appreciate any help on this.

You can't use your Sky receiver for the ART channels, there is a way, through the menu, to add other channels but the Sky receiver is only designed for Sky and isn't really any use for anything else.
You would be better off getting a second, motorized, dish for all other satellites and leaving the Sky set up alone.
You can legally fit a second dish, up to 1 Metre in size, in most areas but check your local government web site for more information.
There are some Linux based receivers that will work with the new Sky white card but these aren't the easiest to use but there are a lot of fellow enthusiasts that will help you out and lots of instructional threads.
You can pick up most FTA channels, Free to Air, on most satellites providing the dish is big enough, hotbird, 13E, is a very powerful satellite so most dishes can pick them up.
For a motorized dish have a look at the Fracarro penta 85cm, the Orbital 1M, or even the Triax 1.1M.

Would it be possible to have one motorised dish but have two receivers? one for sky and one for ART?

and split the cable to go into both receivers, so if i want to watch sky i move the dish that way and turn on sky receiver and if i wanna watch art i move dish towards hotbird 13e and use art receiver?

Your best plan is to keep the Sky UK receiver on its own dedicated dish. They can get flaky (to put it mildly) if they are regularly unable to access 28E.

There is an MBC channel on Hotbird 13E, very easy to pick up, with almost any sized dish, including a sky dish.
