Hi can anyone help, I have lost all the pictures from the screen, all the station are there but I get a "tune failed" message or nothing at all when I try another channel. I watch the spanish & french channels but they don't appear now. The signal readout on the front of the panel says SNR 0% and AGC 99%, has this got anything to do with not getting a picture? I am not good at all things Sat., but do enjoy to have it. Can anybody help, please tell me where I've gone wrong then explain it in idiot proof how to restore it.

HI mate, you would get a better response if you posted in the correct place, I am sure some of the mods will move your post to the right place.
You are not receiving a signal which could be the result of several things. You do not say if you have a motorised system or not nor do you tell us what set up you have. Your dish may have moved and you are off the satellite, which is Astra 1 from what you say you are watching. Your cable might have become detached from the F connector, have a look at the back of the box and see if the cable is connected to it. You might have a short between the shield ( the woven cooper round the inner cable) and the inner cable, you would be best advised to refit the F connector on the cable, just to be on the safe side. There are several other things that could be the cause, but try the connector first. Please lets us have some more information as to what set up you have. Regards Wez

Hi Wez, thanks for your advice, I have disconnected the wire at the back of the dreambox then screwed it back on again and I have some pictures back maybe thats what it is. I am not technically minded when it comes to satellite as I am a total novice, the system was set up by some guys in the trade. I just found out about all this while I was looking how I could get foreign channels to be able to keep up learning the languages. A dreambox 800 was recommended along with a motorised dish (100cm). Anyway when it worked I was delighted but still don't know much about it so thanks for your patience. I will let you know how it improves!

Glad to be of some help. You would be best to cut the cable and refit the F connector. Before you ever disconnect the cable turn the box of. When you have cut the cable with side cutters or pliers, get a Stanly knife and go round the outer plastic of the cable and take it from the cable, you will now be left with a coper braid and under that some silver coloured tape, fold these two back from the inner part of the cable and along the outer insulation. You will be left with an plastic covered solid coper wire, you need to run the knife round this plastic, but you need to leave about 40mm of plastic, the reason you leave this is to insulate the inner cable where it goes through the small hole in the center of the F connector. Before you screw the F connector on the cable, over the coper braid and metallic tape, you need to be sure that none of the braid wires are touching the solid inner coper wire, if they do the cable will short with the braid, which is the shield and is also the earth, and you will have no signal again.
Hope you get it sorted and get on with your studies. That guy who told you that you needed a Dreambox 800 or any Dreambox for what you required is a con artist, for what you wanted you could have had a box for about £35 and you did not need a dish that big or a motorised one either. For what you wanted the receiver for you could have had the whole outfit for around £60 max. You do have a very good receiver and if you are anyway computer literate you can do all sorts with that receiver. It is quite a daunting task taking on a Dreambox, but with some patience and endeavor you will master it. Good luck and please do let me know how you get on. Regards Wez
