Default Installing my own satellite

I have an old Homechoice satellite dish mounted outside the house and wondered if I could use it with our freesat-ready TV which is currently connected via the TV aerial and receives all DVB channels. Would that satellite dish work as a freesat dish and can I connect it via the aerial cable (the cable runs outside next to the dish, so I could disconnect the aerial and connect it to the dish) and then to the TV's satellite plug from the aerial outlet on my wall? Any help/suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

I don't know what the Homechoice dish looks like, where it was pointing or whether the LNB covers the correct frequency range and polarisation type, so more info is needed on that, a photo of it would help.

Also, no you can't use aerial cable, it needs to be replaced with proper satellite cable, eg webro wf100 or similar.

Thank you for the fast response, Robbo! See attached for a pic of the dish - what do you reckon?

Thank you.

why only a thumbnail?
Can you post a full-size pic of the dish?
Some of us have eyes which have had a lot of use!

If you click on the thumbnail, a larger picture will open. Clicking on that larger picture will open an even larger pic on a separate window.

Thank you.

I'm not an expert myself but I would say that the dish is oval and not suited to catching satellite signals, but Robo IS an expert and he probably would like you to answer the questions he asked you in his first mail.....re siting LNB etc.

I don't know what LNB is.... The dish is pointing South East, but I can easily move it around. I'm obviously a total beginner on all things satellite.
