Hi guys.
I'm a complete noob here, looking for a bit of advice. Was running with a SB 5100 (unfortunately I dont know what it's flashed with) Modem went down a couple of weeks ago, the guy I bought it from flashed it again.... no joy, even at my dad's place, who, like the good citizen that he is, pays for his broadband and all is above board. Well, gave him it back and he's reflashed and found working MACS. Still no joy at my place (though it works at my dad's place now). From the modem page at my place Acquire Downstream Channel Done Obtain Upstream Parameters Done Upstream Ranging Done Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP In Progress Establish Time Of Day Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP Register Connection Cable Modem Status Offline Initialize Baseline Privacy 1970-01-01 00:00:37 3-Critical 0x040D9A2C DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response. 1970-01-01 00:00:25 3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing 1970-01-01 00:00:23 3-Critical 0x0501BD64 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 1970-01-01 00:00:22 3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing 1970-01-01 00:00:22 3-Critical 0x0501BD64 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 1970-01-01 00:00:21 3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing 1970-01-01 00:00:21 3-Critical 0x0501BD64 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 1970-01-01 00:00:14 3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing 1970-01-01 00:00:13 3-Critical 0x0501BD64 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing 1970-01-01 00:00:02 3-Critical 0x0501BDC8 SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing 1970-01-01 00:07:35 3-Critical 0x040D9964 DHCP FAILED - Discover sent, no offer received 1970-01-01 00:04:24 3-Critical 0x04E33948 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out 1970-01-01 00:03:59 3-Critical 0x040D9964 DHCP FAILED - Discover sent, no offer received 1970-01-01 00:00:44 3-Critical 0x04E33948 No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out(This continues with the same error logs repeating) Software Version: SB5100-2.3.2.5-SCM01-NOSH Hardware Version: 1 MIB Version: II GUI Version: 1.0 VxWorks Version: 5.4 When i was running at home, my power levels, both downstream and upstream were borderline ok, -9dBmV down...... 49dBmV up Any advice? My googling has me thinking my cable might be at fault, but wanted some advice from the experts Thanks in advance

its stopping on tftp so its not a signal issue. maybe have a mess with the bpi settings and make sure your not trying to force or autoserv

cd /
cd n/d enable docsis11 1 enable advphy 1 cd / cd n/h cm_annex 3 annex_a write Set your frequency to the Docsis 1.0 (old) one for your area, save and reboot. Leave it do its thing for 5 mins, it may change frequency a couple of times while booting. If probs, grab a telnet log of the connection attempt and post it up sr20 Last edited by sr20; 12-11-09 at 10:47 AM. |

NIGHTMARE!!!
My mate who seems to think he's a genius has been mucking about on the SB5100MoD page, and with Telnet. Now it doesn't even lock on to a downstream frequency? Any ideas? Alternatively I'm in Fife. I'd be happy to send it out and pay for postage both ways, plus a wee bonus to anyone happy to fix it, otherwise it's going in the bin......

Fix it yourself or throw it in the bin mate Just read through some info on how to set up a 200/5100 from the start, and follow it. If it was too easy everyone'd start doing it then VM would do something to stop it...oh wait a min.. sr20 Last edited by sr20; 13-11-09 at 10:29 PM. |
