Default Noob advice SB5100i

Hi guys.

I'm a complete noob here, looking for a bit of advice.
Was running with a SB 5100 (unfortunately I dont know what it's flashed with)

Modem went down a couple of weeks ago, the guy I bought it from flashed it again.... no joy, even at my dad's place, who, like the good citizen that he is, pays for his broadband and all is above board.

Well, gave him it back and he's reflashed and found working MACS.
Still no joy at my place (though it works at my dad's place now).

From the modem page at my place
Acquire Downstream Channel Done Obtain Upstream Parameters Done Upstream Ranging Done Establish IP Connectivity using DHCP In Progress
Establish Time Of Day
Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP
Register Connection

Software Version: SB5100-2.3.2.5-SCM01-NOSH
Hardware Version: 1
MIB Version: II
GUI Version: 1.0
VxWorks Version: 5.4

When i was running at home, my power levels, both downstream and upstream were borderline ok, -9dBmV down...... 49dBmV up

Any advice? My googling has me thinking my cable might be at fault, but wanted some advice from the experts

Thanks in advance

its stopping on tftp so its not a signal issue. maybe have a mess with the bpi settings and make sure your not trying to force or autoserv

Just thought I'd add that it's flashed with SB5100MOD

Tried to disable the bpi settings via telent last night, still no joy.

cd /
cd n/d
enable docsis11 1
enable advphy 1
cd /
cd n/h
cm_annex 3
annex_a
write

Set your frequency to the Docsis 1.0 (old) one for your area, save and reboot.

Leave it do its thing for 5 mins, it may change frequency a couple of times while booting. If probs, grab a telnet log of the connection attempt and post it up

NIGHTMARE!!!

My mate who seems to think he's a genius has been mucking about on the SB5100MoD page, and with Telnet.

Now it doesn't even lock on to a downstream frequency?

Any ideas?

Alternatively I'm in Fife. I'd be happy to send it out and pay for postage both ways, plus a wee bonus to anyone happy to fix it, otherwise it's going in the bin......

Encouraging trading?

Fix it yourself or throw it in the bin mate
Just read through some info on how to set up a 200/5100 from the start, and follow it.

If it was too easy everyone'd start doing it then VM would do something to stop it...oh wait a min..
