Andy, you seem to be interested in using and learning about the Dreamox/linux box operation and the fun to be had.

Firstly, decide whether you want HD or SD and then decide on what you want to do. There is a very big difference between the 500 and the 70** range. For a start, you can pop a usb memory stick into the 70** range and run lots of memory intensive plugins and multiple images as well as having inbuilt recording and timeshift.

The 500 has a very small memory and cant take much in the way of plugins or addons.

I might be a Dreambox nut, but I would not even consider a 500. If you see one, I would recommend getting a secondhand 7000s or 7020s box. If you have the money, the 800 high def box is excellent but at nearly £400 is a bit much as a starter.

Sorry to hijack the thread but, dreamboxshops co uk are selling it for under £200 is it a clone then?

or is there something missing?
