All DB's have ethernet connections.

We do not recommend a beginner to the hobby starts off with a DB - they are enthusiasts machines not basic hobby boxes. And if by any chance you think they are a magic route to all pay tv free you are going to be seriously seriously disappointed.............

No i dont think they are an answer to pay tv sorry if thats what you think im looking for and i do understand they are an enthusiasts machine like the dbox but as the dreambox seems to have the the biggest market i thought there would be more info on them for me to learn

So which box do u recommend i have an old Humax f1-vaci that im playing around with ?

A slong as you remember it will take a while to get to grips with a DB - especially with the more advanced functions go ahead! Be brave & buy one! Theres plenty of help available here to get ou up and running.

My earlier comment is simply because of this - Thanks to unscrupulous marketing by some sellers all too many people think they are going to link it up to their dish and get all the pay channels open for free. Which of course doesnt happen. You take a a DB out of its wrapper and connect it all up and you only have the free channels.....

The basic box is the 500 - now only available as clones. Some types are better than others.

The more expensive boxes are the 7000/7020 series . Ive got a 7020 and its lovely.

A clone will be fine as long as

1) you realise some of them have poor power suppiles in them (Eagles were especially bad a couple of years ago for example)

2) some of them are hopeless at driving motors (see point 1!)

3) you stay well away from more recent gemini firmware - gemini put a payload timebomb in some of the images a while back which bricks the box.

Cant remember the exact version details but the details are on the forum somewhere

No - **some** clones dont like driving motors.

You take a risk with cloned boxes.
