Well guys, postie delivered my new EX6000 this morning and I'm now a proud owner.
I don't want to harp on too much about it because I don't want it to sound like an advert, but all I can say is this box is superb! I had the EX1100 and there is a world of difference between the 6000 and the 1100. Where do you begin? Packaging is high quality just like the Max series (it is about the same size). Little things like the cardboard is solid, the manual is in a plastic bag... not deal breakers, just little touches. The box itself is about the same size as the Max/5100 pvr, it clearly comes from the same stable. It is very high quality, no flimsy plastic casing here LOL. The back of it has more connections that you could shake a stick at... RS232, USB, SCART, COMPONENT (I'll come to that in a sec), on/off switch etc. etc. Anyway, I got the latest firmware off BMac and put it on a stick. Booted the box up with the stick in and it flashed in about 6 seconds... I'm not kidding LOL... it just did it itself. It asked me to select a country and timezone then scan. Scanning was very fast and simple and all automatic, and took about 3 minutes. When it finished I went to a channel and pressed OK to look at the EPG and it was a blooming revelation !.... the flipping epg was already there!! All of it! Extended info, progress bar, everything! Man, that was impressive. The channels had been sorted into favourites like the proper box and I had all channels present. Channel changing is like lightning! Remote control is very positive and has a good weighty quality feel to it. I did all this through scart so I thought I'd try the component and WOW ! The quality is awesome for a non HD box on my 37" Sammy. Seriously, how anyone could say that the 1100 would have better picture quality than the 6000 is impossible. I don't have another box to compare it to except my mates EX1000 and it still knocks socks off that too. There are tons of features on this box so I will have to spend the rest of the day playing, but I tried recording something and timeshifting and it just works perfectly, fast, simple and effortless. I am trying to find something to fault it on so that this review can be a bit more balanced but I honestly, honestly can't find anything. i am now determined to find a fault no matter how small LOL ![]() I will try to take some screenshots later and post them up but I have to learn how to first. All I can say is that I ended up buying this because I couldn't get along with the broken EX1100 box and something strikes me very clearly.... How can I put this?..... The difference between the EX6000 and the EX1100 is so massive that something just doesn't seem right. When I now look at the 1100 (even just the packaging) it seems like a cheap chinese freeview box that you would buy from Asda for £9. I'd never known any difference because I'd only ever owned the 1100 but it is clear to me now that the 1100 and the 6000 share absolutely nothing in common. I now get why Eurovox is so successful. A very very happy chappie indeed

thanks Zx5x,
very informative. How is the menu and interface? is it the style of MaxV/Ex5100/ex1000 or the style of the not very popular ex1100?

Hi ziyu,
It is sort of like an advanced EX1000 type menu. I've never seen the MaxV or 5100 so I don't know. It says KURO2 on the system info so I think it is a version 2 of the Kuro system. It is much nicer (more colours and graphics etc). and it moves very fast. I think it is a very powerful box because it never ever pauses on anything. I just went onto the Channel List screen and pressed the DOWN arrow as fast as I could over and over again and the EPG including all the extended info in the box updated like lightning. It is much faster than the EX1100 and EX1000. I just found a Winamp like player on it too...woohooo, so now I got all my mp3s blaring out the TV.. Great! Got a JPG veiwer as well, and a calendar which looks like a paper one.. groovy man. I tried taking some photos but they don't come out very well. I'll keep trying. Just found another two EPG screens as well. The EPG goes well into the next few days...nice. Last edited by zx6r; 13-11-09 at 12:45 PM. Reason: more things |

what is the point of getting one when by all accounts nagra 3 is just around the corner and all the cable boxes will be obsolete, seems a lot of money to pay for a few short months of cable viewing

Sorry to jump in as well this is about time we have a good box to talk about.
This is the box that we have all been waiting for: Just picked up my new Eurvox EX6000SD plunged it in and followed the instructions from Lincsat and was working in 20 minutes (not like the EX7000HD or EX1100usb) in my opinion do not buy anything other than this box everything works so far? Just a few things that work:
Thanks Lincsat |

From what i've read on the forums, Lincsat had alot of involvement on the ex6000 sd. Lincsat your input has indeed made this a very good box & also a great forum. Keep up the great service Linc.
