Update on the 8Mb (2Mb limit) from BT
Rate limit on Max lines - news from BT
We finally have confirmation from BT as to the nature of the issue with Max regrades and rate limits within BT. The issue appears to be where a line is connected to a router and so on-line when the regrade actually happens, BT do not recognise the new line sync as being from a Max line (it's too quick). Later re-syncs at the same rate do not prompt BT to take any action either. This means the normal 75 minutes for a new or regraded line does not happen. The line should have the rate correctly set after 3 days. The reason some lines appear to work is that they are either slow to reconnect, not on-line during the regrade, or sync at a different rate later. Ironically this does mean that really good lines that always sync at a full 8128M are unlikely to have the speed change appliued promptly. Customers that have requested a regrade may like to turn their router off over night to ensure the rate limit is applied promptly the next morning. Sadly this news comes just after the last of our pre-ordered customers have been upgraded this morning. Now the upgrade is done, many of these customers may have to wait until Sunday to see the full speed applied. We are now able to pick up the BRAS rate limit from BT and show this on the control pages for you line (next to the service Max Standard / Max Premium) so you can easily check if you wish. BT are working on this issue. followup message: BT have advised that they have a temporary fix which means that a resync now should cause the BRAS rate to pick up within 75 minutes even if the speed rate does not change. This may not work for all lines though, and if it does not then it will take 3 days, sorry. |
