K800i no ringing

Hi all,
I have a K800i and the ringer is not working any more, the vibrating is OK, as is the sound through the headphones. I have had the phone to the O2 shop and they say it would cost a lot to fix the problem, even though they never asked the tech boys to look at it, that was the opinion of the sales girl, she of course told me that I could upgrade or have a new phone if I paid for it. Would some of you guys with more knowledge than me have any idea what is wrong and what it would be likely to cost to have it fixed.

Afaik Sony Ericsson phones use a seperate speaker for the ringer/loudspeaker function rather than the earpeice, which afaik only provides voice/audio when in a call.

At least, thats the case with my c902.

Hi mate thanks for your very swift reply, I have to say that you might well be right. Do you know how I would go about replacing the speaker, I have just had a look and cannot see any handy way to get at it.

i have a K800i but i think the ringer/loudspeaker are both the same

You will have to open the phone up using a special screw driver which you can get from ebay and then take ur old one out and replace it with ur new one.

Thanks again and to MorriSoft for all your help. I do have a set of drivers which should do the job, I will have a look and let you know what the score is. I am also going to get a new cover for the phone, the screen is very hard to see with the scores on the cover.

Thanks you all peps I got it apart and have the speaker out now, did not put all of the parts back in place as I am going to go ahead and get the parts from the guy on Ebay. I am getting the speaker and a cover, it will look like anew phone again.
