before i start i want to know if anyone has tried this and how it went.
i have 2 modems runing hax wiv diferent macs both 10mb. i want to use both modems at once... not like oh can i ad 2 modems to make 20mb! but could i use the 2 modems on one pc. i have 2 diferent network cards my plan was to set them both up and allocate certain programs to different modems... for example make utorrent only use modem 1 and internet explorer and other programs that need internet to only use modem 2. or have utorent for modem 1 and azureus for modem 2 what do you think it might be a silly question but would be cool if i could get it to work. my hardware: 2 x ambit 250 on hax rev 39 amd sempron 3200 x2 dual coe procesor 2 gb ram ( 2 x 1gb ram) windows xp sp2 |

This would only work if you had 2 PCs / Laptops.
Although you could have the 2 modems running seperatly, They wll both be running into the same connection. The computer therefore wouldnt split the internet connection the way you want. If you have a laptop other PC, you could connect one to each modem and that would work how you want it to.

Google "Wingate". You need this program to enable the use of two (or more) modems in parallel. I had it going with two once but their wasn't much different in speed. Both modems were running on 20MB but I only got about 32MB maximum from both of them combined.

That is a better alternative (the Dual WAN Router option). I was tempted to do this but I didn't have the funds to get the router I needed.

Those can be expensive.
You can always modify an existing router to get dual or quad wan, that's what I did and it works just as well as my dads business class dual wan netgear router. With a little googling and the right router (Linksys wrt54g recommended), this can lead to lots of fun! That said, on a tri and quad wan setup, the performance was negligable over a dual wan when using the Linksys, so if you wanted more than dual, I'd get a proper quad wan router to the job if I were you, but if you want just two, and don't fancy spending a fair whack on a dual wan router, I'd stick to modding the Linksys, they can be picked up for roughly £30.00 second hand now and not much more for a brand new one and are very very flexible when using the DD-WRT firmwares. Edit: I used this guide amongst others on google - Road Runner Guide [Dual Wan Guide For DD-WRT Firmware] Edit 2: DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Dual / Triple WAN HowTo | DHCP scripts on Page 5!!!! <-- thats the best link for information and detailed explanations.

Perhaps someone running Vista could confirm, I would, but am not going to be "home" as such until tomorrow now, plus, if I can avoid it, I'd rather not mess, my dual wan setup has been running sweet as for the last 2 months now and I don't want to give the modems a reason to packup now!
