NO lights at all on the sb5001 IS it bricked?

you only touch one side of the 10 pin header, the other side are ground, i hope u did't touch all 10.

pm ur email addy and i will send u a 2mb dump to try, run it with scwarts and see wot happens it will still come out with a write error but normally carrying on with it, and trying it out you find it will work.

your best bet is to do the wire trick hold for a second on each of the 5 pins u need to touch and when u see all the lights light up breifly then try the 2mb dump straight after.

or even better try the 2mb dump 1st if no good then try the wire trick and try again with the same dump.

failing all that you will have to usb jtag it. they seem like a big investment but like sr20 said you will use it more than once, ive had mine less than 6 months now and the sheer speed difference is worth the money it will flash u modem in under a minute its a modding tool worth buying it leaves the para jtag standing. ive got the sbh usb jtag, but there is another one out called the usb jtag nt, which i read somewher it supports spi flashing and can do an ambit 256 in under 10 secs. and its twice as fast as the one ive got, i think the one ive got is quick enough so that thing must be blink of an eye flashing.

I'm afraid I did touch all 10 pins on the 10 pin header...

Yesterday in a fit of frustration I connected all 10 pins for at least a second each and then did them all again for good measure!!

Have I knackered the modem?

I did read somewhere that you should only connect one row of the 10 pin header,but it was unclear as to which row.

I found that touching any of the pins on one row of the 10 pin header would temporarily light up the LEDs(except power led)
touching any of the pins on the other row seemed to do nothing.

Which row should I be touching as i'm still not sure and how can you tell if the 3.3v trick was successful?

btw not all the lights temporarily lit up when touching the pins,the power led remained dead. This had been the case when rebooting the modem prior to performing the wire trick...all lights would breifly flash except the power led...is this significant?


Anyway scwarts will only flash with the verify written data unticked, with it ticked I getverification errors that prevent it from continuing...is this ok?

Still no joy – did wire trick again, but it couldn’t have worked because I flashed it again but same problem. Still no lights and still no config page

Is there anyway to check if the wire trick DID indeed work? I need to verifify this step worked, BEFORE I try to flash it.

Btw schwarze has always been able to detect the flash chip so I can’t use this method to check it ther wire trick worked or not...

i never tick the verify written data as it takes twice as long also ive a 2mb dump that put all lights back on pm me if you need it
