Is there a difference in the Channel 'Change' Speed? Does the Premium version of the Card change quicker?
Currently I am using the TechnoTrend Budget. I have tried it with TVSource, DVBViewer..with & without DVBLink....and I get a channel change speed of around 10 secs (both on FTA & Encrypted). Can someone please advise? How quick is the change with a Premium...since it does its own MPEG2 Decoding...so I've heard. Thanks in advance |

10 seconds sounds crazy. I have a TT Budget myself, and channel changes take maybe a second or so.

I'll try removing my Hauppauge PVR-150 Card and see if that makes a difference.
I thought 10 secs semed a little unreasonable. Does the PC CPU do the MPEG2 processing...or does the deinately does it.coder on the 2300 do it? Obviously on th budget...the PC def Last edited by SCOOBY_666UK; 20-11-09 at 08:59 PM. |

Well, most modern PCs do MPEG decoding on the videocard, so there's really no CPU lag there, particularly with MPEG2, which doesn't require much resources at all.
The 2300 does the decoding itself, but I don't think it has enough power for HD resolutions. |

Channel change speed is really more to do with tuner lock on time rather than anything to do with PC processing speed or Mpeg decode time. If your signal level is marginal or the transponder frequencies are slightly offset then it can take the tuner quite a while to lock on which seems to be what your seeing. Very often with these cards, if the tune fails to lock on the first attempt then a retry is issued. Most cards will attempt to lock for 1-2 secs before issuing retries.
You might be better to scan using a program which will scan at user selectable offsets. I remember one of the more commercial programs doing this - you set an offset like 1Mhz and the program would attempt to lock onto the given frequency +/- the offset moving in single tuner steps (usually 166khz) and finding the strongest signal level within that range. Unfortunately, this doesn't really help much if your in an area that has quite a bit of transducer frequency drift ! Last edited by TheCoder; 20-11-09 at 11:21 PM. |

Thanks for the info guys.
I'll try and get hold of a Konig booster to up my signal...n see if that makes a difference. Also, I forgot to mention that my DVB-C Card is the old budget C1100 from around -5 years ago....is there a difference between the old budget C1100 and the newer C1500/01's? Thanks once again guys. |
