I think the forum should make it restricted to view topics and threads unless you are registered to the site its shocking to see 250+ guest at the bottom and 50+ members actually logged in, fair enough those 250 a percentage will be members who can't be asked to log in but a majority are just leechers any one else agree?

Not really.

IMHO this is a site for people to learn from. If people are quite happy to search through the site rather than just put up a post asking how do I get free TV just because they can't be arsed to read, then I don't see a problem.

They can search the site via being a member and logging in i didn't say put a restriction up when you are logged in but think they should be one until you log in then you can view all.

I understood what you meant, just giving my opinion is all

I also don't see what differance it would make if people register and never post, or view the site as a guest. It's not like there is a subscription fee.

I would guess a lot of people come here through googling (I know that's how I found it).

If they follow the google link to be told they have to register, they'll just click "back" and go on to the next site (I know that's what I'd do).

As rick said, there's no registration fee, so there's no benefit to forcing people to join, other than email harvesting (I know that's what I'd do).

I always find it funny though, when members on here complain about freeloaders

The aim has always been to be an open site - and you always get guests who read rather than post. It's just part of the game.

As Perry Cox pointed out, the fewer barriers you put up, the more people will be inclined to join, rather than move on.

Economics also shows that some of these "guests" also click the Google Adsense ads, which brings in the money to pay for the site server!
