Default how many times?...

How many times can a mac be used/cloned in the same area before it goes wrong?!

I have 1 which I use myself and I fired it into my m8s modem to get him back online.. I have another guy that wants the same done and I was just wondering if 3 within houses of eachother would work or would it be a bit dodgy? Thanks

It wont work at all !

No two modems with the same MAC can exist on the same subnet at any one time. Thats why you have to get your MAC from a different subnet to start with, so your clone doesn't interfere with the original !

If you try, you will find that whenever two modems are online at the same time they will yo-yo every 30 secs or so so you'll never actually get online.

Im afraid it is working,
I have said that i have a mac address from my modem (which is a cloned mac) and i have put it into my friends modem and he is online at the same time as me no problems. his ubr is the same as mine so that is why i was wondering if I can put it into multiple modems..

It simply cannot be that you are both on the same UBR, as pointed out by TheCoder your modem and your friends modem will both reboot over and over in cycles - roughly every 30 seconds or so.

It's much much more likely you are both on different UBRs, one of you being on the edge of one UBRs range, the other being on the edge of another UBRs range.

Cloning modems on the VM network was only possible by taking a mac from one UBR and using it on a different UBR that is close by.

That said, some macs wouldn't remain stable when cloned at all, some having better sucess than others in certain areas but never have I heard of the same mac being used twice on one UBR.
