External PVR on Vantage X221TS

Can anyone advise, please.
I have a satellite digital receiver Vantage X221TS CI (I actually have two of them), which I use to handle signals from four LNBs. I'm pleased with it but am thinking of expanding my system with some kind of PVR facility (although I'm beginning to think I'm already 'way out of date with my question). My needs are probably fairly simple: to occasionally record a programme if I'm out (time shifting) and to pause/record/replay "live" TV if I'm interrupted by phone calls, etc. I suppose I should look for it to process Freeview as well as my four satellites. I don't watch a lot of TV and don't need a massive recording capacity - say, 50-100 hours. I'm not looking to record programmes for posterity - just pause, for instance, a live programme like Question Time while I go and make coffee.

The question is: is there an external recorder that would work with this Vantage model? Can anyone recommend one? Neither of my Vantage units has a USB port.
Or am I obliged to replace the Vantage units with receivers with integral PVRs (this is an expense I would like to avoid, besides I *like* the Vantage)?

How are other Vantage X221TS owners tackling this problem?
