Default Diablo cam - worth the effort and expenses?

Hi all!

Some months ago I was lended a Diablo cam for a day, and it was superb. It seemed to me to open about *everything* on 1*W, and as I am now in a financial situation to be able to buy one for myself, I am turning to the good people of this forum to see if this is something I should go for and how to set up and use this cam.

The sticky on 'How to program a Diablo Cam' (sorry, I'm not allowed to posts links yet) seems straight forward enough, but since the post is over a year old, I would very much like to know if this is still the case, and if I need to do anything else to make it work. Like - what about keys..?

I have a rotor dish, but its probably not adjusted right, cause it will only find valid transponders on 1*W, 4.8*E and 13*E. (There's free sight from the dish, ie. no trees or buildings and stuff in the way). The sticky how-to promises Polsat 13*E, Digi TV 1*W and Canal Digital 1*W (which is what I can receive atm), but from what I can learn from recent posts, only Digi TV 1*W is still open, and maybe not for a long time...

So, is it advisable to purchase this cam and a Cas programmer at this point?
Any and all advices are received with gratitude.

Thanks.

Save your money for the time being - theres a new version of Diablo on the way in the near future, and Digi+TV on 1W will be changing their encryption in the new year and will most definitely become unavailable unless you subscribe when they do.

Apparently the new Diablo 2 has now been released, along with a Cas Studio update to program it, unfortunately we still don't know what it opens

That is always like that, when the prices drop it's a sign that you can't do much with that item.

From what Ive seen over on the sats forum its only Viaccess 2.6 on the 13E channels apparently. Not very exciting and thats an OLD version of Viaccess.

Ive used a dragon cam, then a diablo cam and now Im with a protek receiver and at the moment it has been the best of the three, but as with with all this side of the satellite business its taking a chance and hoping. The choice on the protek is fantastic there are fifteen packages wlth an average of twenty channels on each.Youre spoilt for choice.Sateric.

The concept of the protek receiver is that it involves a server who apparently does all the work for you. You buy the receiver and that must be a part of the *bargain*.The setting up the system needs some computer knowledge but of a basic nature.Just put*Protek* into Google and see where it takes you.Sateric.
