I have been given one of these, and it has raised my eybrow a little, I have never done anything with satelite before, is it worth buying a second hand dish and having a play with this box ????????

Second hand satellite kit is always worth playing with

Dont expect too much from it, although if its come out of a bookies theres an outside chance it could still be authorised for SIS on 5E.

I think it will probably have been used for BFBS (british forces broadcasting service)

HM Ships at Sea | BFBS Television

Your best bet would be to point it at NSS12 at 58.7e or NSS703 at 57e but I am not sure of the beams on either of these birds so don't know if you would recieve anything.

In that case big C-band dish required - that BFBS service is transmitting off NSS5 at 57E and look like a 2.3m dish will be required in the UK!
