First things first I'm not going to be one of those cheeky so and so's who ask for a step by step guide on flashing a VM box, I fully intend to learn on my own however just wanted to clarify one point

My plan is to get the virgin media box + modem and use it until the special offer runs out in 2 months then flash both the cable receiver and the modem

My question is this, as virgin will at some stage realise om no longer paying them they will at some stage place a restriction on my services, will a flashed cable box and modem be affected by this restriction

Are they flaws in my evil genius plan ?

ps, i dont have the box/modem yet im planning ahead for a new flat

Yes, they will realise because you are binded to a contract. Buy a box from eBay or ask around and modify that. NEVER modify CC owned equipment because you will get caught. Plus, if you did mod the equipment VM give you, you would stand out like a sore thumb as you would no longer be paying.

nah m8 your plan fuc**d up as soon as u said u were gunna mod subbed gear you can not sign up to virmin for just 2 months u wud have to sign up for 12 so u wud be modding gear thaat isnt yours no 1 on forum will help u to do that best bet get to car boot or fleabay and buy a box and modem to mod

Dont but one off ebay unless you are going to collect yourself and pay cash, they can trace the box to your house through your payment otherwise.
