Default Free domain names for sites

Do you think free domain names can ever be used for a professional website. I dont think a site use a free domain gives a good impression. I recently stumbled upon a host which is on a .tk domain, weird!!

Try using www.uni.cc ..Its nice, free and parks with DNS servers just as a domain! it can be used if you don't wanna pay for a domain and name is really short and nice: yourname.uni.cc

.tk sucks I know that!

free domains and free webhosted domains are not a good image for corporations, businesses and enterprises on the internet, it lowers the company's esteemed values and also reputation.

This was my problem before I found NamePros .. Where you can get a domain without paying a cent !!

I will never forget the article that told me about them .. It said something of that meaning :"In NamePros Name Buckets are used instead of real money to register doamins !! "

It really depends what sort of website you want to develop - I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons to play around with free domains, but if you're looking to create a website with a stronger sense of identity and brand, better to pay a few dollars for a domain you'll want to keep with for the long-term.

Yeah, the .be were recently released for free, but because of that the .be domain is going to be worthless for branding if .be is simply going to be associated with spam and low-quality content.

I would agree with Brian with the point of it all depends what you want to do with your site. But if want to leave an impressiong or branding than buy a domain instead of a free one.

I also see free domains as a temporary means to the next step of actually paying for a domain. To see what each hosting company offers. To play with the domain itself. To practice building a website and learning programming skills.
