Hi hope some one can help. i am trying to get my head around this. Here is my setup.
SB5101E running Haxoware and I am located in Ireland. I have full access to my original cable modem so i know my freq, config file, TFTP. etc etc I ran Dhcp sniffer and got some macs but there are in my area I think (well they are all on same gateway) and the bootfile came back as cm_unknown.bin. The config file on my original router is cm_express.bin. On the address page i added the HFC mac address i got from dhcp sniffer and changed a few digits on serial number. I read here you dont need TFTP or config file cause forcing in not supported any more. Do I have to change the Mac address of the pc that is connected to hacked modem. If so what do i change it to? ( Im missing that part). i know how to change it but does it have to be specific. Hope someone can read this and let me know what i am doing wrong |

not that Iam a pro at this but to my knowledge you cant clone a mac from your own gateway.
if you want to spoof your nic address I am on vista and found a program called SMAC thats pretty user friendly. also as far as Iam aware you can't force config only if your area has changed to using dynamic config files, theres some info in one of the stickys on here bout that one Iam sure. I would try either trading macs with someone in another gateway or going somewhere else for a sniff!try a new one and let it get its own config file if your style modem does that.click thanks if I ve helped!that'll be my first one! |

No need to spoof NIC atm mate.
Problem is by the sound of it you've cloned a MAC which got assigned cm_unknown.bin - in itself a config file which won't get web access. Clone MACs which get valid configs. Also, you can't use MACs sniffed from your own UBR (CMTS) unless you 'bruteforce' (search on this for info). What you're doing is never going to work unfortunately. sr20 |
