Default Little Guidence...

Hi guys,

I want a sat set up now, i've had my cable for a while but now i want a sat setup!

Basically i've been in touch with a local company to get my dish up and some wires installed into my house.

What receiver should i get / whats best for a new guy willing to learn and research?

Also the installer people was asking me if i want it facing sky, astra, hotbird (i think he said), which is best mix of channels and i would be willing to pay subscription if needs be...

However live premiership is a must!

Thanks for your help guys!

Adam

I would personally consider getting a motorized set up, which then gives you the option of a lot of satellites, instead of a few.
The receiver option is too numerous to go into, at the moment, and quite often you change receiver but stick with the same dish set up.
Have a read through the Satellite sticky threads, and browse the photos section, take a look at the Fracarro Penta 85cm, the Orbital 1M, and the Traia 1.1M dishes.

Bit of a problem that. Pay sky is a safe option.
I can get reception from 28 satellites, loads channells. Most in foreign languages.
Football all over the place. In foreign languages.
But no guarentee of prem matches.
If you want live prem matches then pay sky.If you want the fun of roaming around the satellites do as micha says.
I can only speak for myself but best box for a newcomer to the sat hobby is the technomate.imo tm5400.

Most of the people I know buying subs are going for Canal on 1w, though it is pricey at around £1100 for the year. There are some cheaper packages though, but you won't get as large a veriety of games. Have a look on LJ's Live on Sat site and get an idea of who is showing the matches you want, then price it up.
