DM800 HD PVR EPG problem

I am new to this, a friend installed it and tried to explain to me in seconds how it all works considering only had it on for an hour lol.
It is a clone version and has Enigma 2 and blackhole i believe, i have a standard 80cm dish, can i try and find other channels, i have sky channels at mo, but would like to experiment.
What i want to know is one i installed a 20gb hard drive to test and it says no HD.
I have a pen drive and was told or heard through all the info fed to me in secs that i can use a pen drive in order to see the weekly epg.
Also how do i set up my favorites on this box.
I also have problems with glitches on hd channels, is this due to C sharing or the tuner?
I have v+'s and love them to bits, i only bought this 800 as a precaution to the N3 due to arrive.

Hi Foxy, if your dish is fixed and is on the sky satellite at 28.2E and you have access to sky channels then you should be getting most of the channels. Many hundreds are available however unlike cable, you can get all of the area transmissions for different parts of the country. To get more channels you will need to motorise your dish so that you can point it at other satellites.

You can save EPG info to a USB pen drive and I suggest you experiment with the EPG plugins by pressing MENU and PLUGINS. (Some images, but not all, have the option to get the plugins list by pressing the green button.)

Your HDD may not have been initialised so press the MENU button and search for the HDD setup.

Favourites are set up as channel lists in 'bouquets'
Press the up or down button to get the channel list and highlight the channel you want as a favourite. Press the menu button and you will get the option to add the channel to a 'bouquet'. Before adding a channel you can make folders (bouquets) for each of your favourite categories.

To find a favourite after it has been installed, just press the up or down button and then the blue button and your bouquets will be listed. Highlight a bouquet/channel and the channel will open.

Glitches are generally down to the quality of the C share and not the tuner. Encryption switching is very frequent and occassionally one gets missed for a few seconds.

Thanks for the info, i will get onto it and see how i go, i was told that the hd channels would be down to the Tuner as it is a clone by fitter, i did ask about channel glitching before i bought it all as i knew it happened and was told just sky sports 1.

Hard drive now sorted, found out it is due to my location of my dish i.e on roof aerial pole and the swaying in the wind that is causing me to lose channels etc..
When i do as you stated, all fine, then i go and press blue again to see my fav channels and nothing there, only a folder saying favorites at the top, i ok to go into that and nothing, thou i clicked on add to bouguets.
I am in the process of getting it down and placing it on the front of house for sturdy fit.
