turkey, bodrum. would always recomend turkey, ichmeller and marmaris are also good but transfer time to and from the airport let it down, 2hrs if your lucky, 3 if your the last drop off and first pick up.
bordum transfers are pretty quick, half hour to gumbet which i would deff recomend. all ins per person £400, prob £200 each for the kids. litera are ok, we went to the royal marin which was good, the rooms were a bit of a let down but if i wanted all mod cons i'd have stayed at home. who spends all day in there room anyway. the room is for showering and sleeping and keeping your luggage. the resturant is open most of the day, breakfast at 8, mid morn snaks at about 11ish, lunch from 12, mid aft burgers and chips at about 3ish then dinner from 7. (yes i did put a few pounds on) we never eat out once. the dinner food is varied, bbq night, turkish night ect. there is a bit of a kids club which would keep them busy after lunch until 11pm. nothing really organised but it would get the kids involved. the rooms on the 1st or 2nd level were better as some had a balcony, its the 4th or so floor which is dark, i liked it thou, after 9 hrs of sun, i liked the dark. the sauna and indoor pool is on that level too. its on a hill so the reception is on grd floor and then it goes down from there, there is no up. gumbet is your usual turkish tourist town with fake d&g handbags ect and lots of resturants and bars. the beach is within walking distance but wasnt much cop. you can get around on the 'dolmesh's' which are these little busses which come every 30secs of so, they pretty much go everywhere and cost about 50p. you can get to a few better beaches but i spent most of the time around the pool in the hotel. remember, turkey is the turkish lira, not euro so your money goes a lot further than in spain or the canaries.

I wouldnt believe all you hear only Las Americas is a bit rum, just like Faliraki,or Aya Nappa, only small areas on big islands,
Tenerife is good for young families, Los Christianos is very family orientated and very clean, the weather in the Canaries is the best all year round in Europe, flights are relatively cheap, and beaches are nice and clean (one a blue flag). I do the canaries twice a year, I am off to Fuerteventura for 2 weeks next week with my missus and 2 sons we paid £80.00 each for return flights with 2 weeks accommodation for £300.00, you cant grumble with that, temperature averages 75 degrees to 77 degrees in the winter, nice tan for crimbo. when you have kids its all about value for money,Tenerife is good value Last edited by leachy070667; 02-12-09 at 12:21 AM. |
