Default Which frequency for Infinity Phoenix?

Guys,

My cable company uses NDS for encrypting the smart card. I am going to use infinity phoenix to read the card. However, it seems that i need to specify the frequency of 3.58, 3.68 or 6 Mhz. I dont want to fry my legit card, is there a way to find out what frequency do i need to use?

I have also bought a funcard 6. Will it be possible to copy my legit card to this funcard and use it alone. That way my legit card will remain safe.

Thanks

What country are you in ? you cant read an NDS card or modify it, NDS hasn't been cracked.

Hang on, this is worrying me now. A certain webpage (found using google) for sly indicates that the card can be read using inifinity smart card reader and NDScam can decrypt the signal. I dont want my money on phoenix programmer to go waste. What about T. Rex/Dragon Cam, can it read an NDS card?

I have no intentions of modifying the card, but i do want it to be read so that i can use it with mythtv. The stb provided by the cable company is crap. The cable provider is in india btw.

You can use a NDS card in certain receivers and with the right type of cam in a receiver, but you cant use a phoenix programmer to do anything with the card, and you cant copy them to a funcard.
Cas 3 programmers with the right adapters are used for programming the cams for use with the cards, the cards will only stay working in certain types of receivers .
Are you quite sure its an NDS card ?
The webpage your talking about is probably very old, about ten years or so.

Yes it is indeed an NDS card. Somebody not too long ago, posted about using Phoenix with Tata sly, the indian version of sly with a dvb-s card. I am assuming that dvb-s and dvb-c smartcards are similar if they share the same encryption system.

Here is the link:
Tutorial: Tata SKY with DVB Card on PC

another satellite user with an NDS card, (Using Reliance Big Tv)
big tv on pc using DVB-S card (working setup)

How does that work?

Ah now i see what you are trying to do, not heard of using an infinity as an actual card reader to decrypt connected to a pc card, by the looks of the first thread it may damage the card, i think you would be better off using a mediaguard type cam or a receiver like a dreambox that can read the card and keep it active.
Interesting link to the indian forum.

Ah! i am slightly relieved now. The link does seem to suggest that card blows up in the infinity card reader.

But you have raised an interesting point about dreambox. I do have a dreambox pvr 600 with a dvb-c tuner. Is it possible to start newcs server on the dreambox and access these keys from a linux system. I do not like dreambox very much since htpc based systems are much more powerful. If this can work, then i can use my NDS card in dreambox and use mythtv with it.

A proper cam like DragonCam is a bit expensive if i can get things going with above.
