Hi again
I have been trying to set up my own motorised system since last weekend without success, I have a triax1100 dish with the tm910 super. I have mounted it to a pole 100% plumb, when it searches for the sats it can't find anything. The motor is set at the proper latitude 57degrees, i Don't know what position to put my dish though, also i took a guess at south. Please can someone help me fix this problem. Ps do i have to install the latest updates on my tm box first, before the set up? as i haven't.

Ok so you,ve mounted your pole 100% plumb, but you also say you,ve guessed south? Dont guess as this is critical to the setting up of your Dish.Get hold of a compass, if possible stand yourself,/position yourself behind the pole, check your direction on your compass then using a marker-pen or such like, first place/ballance the compass on top of the pole then view:see /look where needle is pointing north-Then make a mark on the edge of the pole @ 6 o clock thats your south. Now with a satellite meter connect one cable end comming from LNB to the meter and same again from your reciever, slacken off gently your Dish brackets in small amounts then move your dish by hand untill you get the highest tone/signal. hopefully this should be Thor @1w. carfully tighten up everything and recheck the signal once again to absolutly confirm you have the best signal you can get. Then go to your reciever select USALS if possible on the reciever or each satellite as may be, not forgetting also inputing your longditude and latitude. this you can find out on the web placing your address/street in a search on google.Hopefully by now all you should be able to download at least from thor@1w. When compleating this get back to me for further assistance. Best of luck hope i,ve been of some assistance.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried to use the compass, I gave up as it was reading different positions every time I tried.I thought it was too close to the metal dish. Do I have I to set my angle on the dish first or does this come later? |

Hi,
You should read the guides, I have listed them here DiSEqC motor installation guides. Th efirst one is very straightforward, follow it and your motorised dish will work (hopefully )

Hi Yogi,
I understand exactly what you mean regarding the readings you may be getting, But if you just perservere a little bit, by slightly raising your compass higher by a few inches you will get a good approximation of south.(then put a mark with your marker pen) on the pole.- "which is better than guessing south". All the info the guy,s have offered is good. I found it difficult myself at first, trying to grasp all the infomation but it comes to make sense after a few goes. The practicle side of setting up just needs a bit of trial and error, but you will get there in the end. As to your final question setting the angle up, you can either do it while the dish is up or on the ground. whatever makes it easier for you to work on. just keep in mind, you have to first put a mark on the pole itself indicating south. If you,ve done this and pre-assembled the Dish on the ground, the next step would be to fit the motor onto the pole, look at the top of the motor and again just mark the middle/centre line. then put that/fit it on the pole, tighten it up making sure both lines on the pole and motor line up. Then mark the centre of the Dish at the rear, lift the dish up, fit it to the motor making sure all the marks now line up.With your meter attached to LNB, First just tighten the Dish/motor assembly enough so as you can rotate the whole assembly to get a reading on your meter. you may at this point need to slightly ajust the angle of your Dish up/down. when you get the best reading possible lock the dish off.(The whole idea is to make fine small ajustments to all the attached to get the best reading possible) Once compleated you can then go on to connect your sat cable leads to the motor, and finally switch on your Reciever. Now set the reciever to thor@1w using USALS. Input your latitude/longditude in the Reciver and save, then scan to download the channels on that transponder. Then you can go to another required satellite using Usals to download other channels.(Hopfully USALS will automaticly then calculate the next satellite which you have chosen to download from) Sorry its been a bit long winded, and hope its again helped you. Dont give up we all had the same Trouble first starting out with our own setup m8 but you will definately get there. Finaly make sure your warmly dressed with a hot cupper to hand. Best Regards Slick.

I have a lot of patience!! but this thing is pushing me to the limit ![]() ![]() ![]() Bring on an installer in the north east!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
