I brought a clone dreambox from dvbseller and it says that any gemini image past 4.20 will brick the box, although it says this 4.20 image is for the dreambox dm500s the box I brought states in the description on the dvbseller website DreamBox 500Si so will this gemini image work fine with it?

ive used gemini 4.60 NON bomb worked fine. (500s)
i like pli cos its open src and you can create the firmware yourself. you can dload a premade one

Upto 4.30 will work fine on any DM500, wether Clone or Genuine

Do not use 4.31 or above as it will brick the box

You can get a modified version of release 4.6 which has had the timebomb removed as stated above which works very well indeed
