Might not be needed now sorry if I was wrong, when i had Sly fitted, in 2001, they required you to have your phone line connected for the first year you had it.

Hi the phone line bit used to be true it was connected to the sky box mine was and once the engineer went i un plug it never made any diffrence.

I think for multi room this is still the case, its to try and stop you taking your box's overseas. It also use to be on the main box as it was subsidised by the interactive services. There are threads on the net of people getting calls from sky about not having the multi boxs plugged into the phone line. Then there are other as above who say they have never been bothered.
