Default Comag SL 90 HDTV USB PVR Satellite Receiver

Hi all i am visiting from cable side of forum (booooooo i hear you say)
Need some advise on the following:
Looking at the Comag SL 90 HDTV USB PVR Satellite Receiver from southern satellite,
I have got a old sky dish think its about 800mm DIA
Think i will need a new LMB,
What sort of Hd channels will i be able to pick up ie same as freesat?
It says Software updates via satellite ASTRA 19.2 degrees east or USB? Whats the availability of updates (none on tcb tool bar)

Many thanks

Boooo!

No seriously hello & welcome to the sat scene

If its an old circular dish from the analogue days then its pointing at the Astra 1 cluster at 19E. The UK channel broadcast off the Astra 2 cluster at 28E.

The lnb may well need changing. Its an easy DIY job IF you can get safe access to it - make sure you spray all the bolts with WD40 a couple of days before hand.

Theres not much free to air HD stuff around in English. BBC HD, ITV HD and Luxe HD is about it off 28E.

Luxe HD isnt the sort of thing you woill want to watch for long unless you like expensive lifestyle programming, and ITV may not be available on your receiver - its got some technical trickery done to it to make it difficult to get. Im not saying its impossible as I dont know that receiver, Ian at southernsat might be able to tell you if its possible.

Hi and welcome.

The Comag will not currently receive ITV HD, but hopefully it will if it stays free to air and has its own channel and not data stream

Unlikely, that it will get it at the moment, its not on the (non exhaustive) list that I have seen. If you must have ITV HD, you need to get a receiver that is known to work with ITV HD ok.

This includes the Technomates, the Clarke Techs, Fortec Pasion, Mvision HD200 and many others.

Shame you did not look at the Golden Media 906 for £99 as this does what you want! I can supply a sat meter for £4.99 and RG6 100m for £14.

It shouldn't need any software from what I gather, it just needs the parameters entered manually on 11428H.

Google this:- ITV HD settings on various (mainly non Freesat) HD boxes
