Hi Guys,

Im new and just joined this Forum today.

I am Living in the Leicestershire area and just had Virgin Media installed, all 3 packages TV, Broadband and Telephone. I would now like to add another TV Digi Box to my broadband connection via the 2 way splitter. I have a few questions and would greatly appriciate response and help.

1. Reading the forum its advised to buy the EX6000 EuroVox, please advise if not?

2. Once connected the EuroVox up how do I receive the free Channels. Do I have to update teh firmware? If so how often and how to you do this?

3. If a buy a HD box will I receive all the HD channels?

Please advice.

Thanks

Well, your choice really. Id say it would now pay for itself, but you might not get a bonus out of it, like if you bought before. This is the reason why I am not selling the EX6000, because of whats just happened with Leeds. I have even advised my customers about this change, so not to shock them. Luckily for most of my customers, they've had their receiver for at least 3 months now and I believe none live in Leeds, so they've already got their money's worth

In Leeds it was around 3 Months between the new CaID appearing and the N1 stream switching off, there is no indication of the new CaID appearing anywhere else in the UK yet.

Now, there is no indication of whether it would take 3 Months anywhere else, or even when the new stream will start. It looks likely that you would get 3 Months +, but that is not guaranteed.

You need to be aware that it could last a long time or it could go off tomorrow. Only a few people at VM know for sure and they are not telling, anyone on the forum that gives you a specific date is just reporting a rumour and does not know for sure.

They dont even have specific start dates themselves presently, they're mainly working to a completion schedule. North of the border anyway.

You have to all remember Leeds was a test area, as such they had to monitor the affect it had and fix bugs.

That test has now been successfull with ALL models of official box in Leeds working off the new card.

Now if they can do a test in 3 months will full monitoring and taking it slow ...
... imagine what they could do when they do the national roll out fully tested and fully working.

You take a chance... or play it safe.

Don't listen to sellers. Listen to your own common sense. Can you afford to gamble the cost of a box on a 50/50?

Spot on. This is a gamble any which way from now in.

It was a bit quicker than 3 months.

1st we got the cards, I waited until i'd received 1 reminder and 3 phone calls asking why I hadn't put it in yet.

Then I lost the premium channels (sports/movies) about 3 weeks after, then a further week before all others went.

Off top of my head i'd say all done and dusted within 2 months, that'll include messing with bugs etc.

I can't complain though. Paid £100 for my Blue many many years ago and just flogged it for £50 so i've had a lot more than my monies worth. (Got an eX1100 unopened stored away.... you never know when You may need one, though sounds like i've flogged the wrong one)

It will be interesting though to see how long it does take. I think too many people have their head in the sand thinking it ain't gonna happen..... Well sorry it is !
