Default VPN - Can you suggest one to me

Hi, I am admittedly useless with computers, internet, etc. but would like to get a VPN as am off abroad soon and my mother wants to use the ITV catch up to see Coronation Street.

Can you help suggest a good provider ... I understand that some are Free but are they dodgy and is there a catch?
Alternatively can someone suggest one that you pay for ... cheap but reliable?

Oh, and I needs to be simple ... like me.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
M
ps I have searched the forums and not found anything on VPNs so if this isn't something covered here then let me know and I'll seek guidance elsewhere.

I cannot suggest an individual provider but this site might give you more information: Total Anonymity - A List of VPN Service Providers | THE source for BitTorrent & P2P Tips, Tricks and Info. | FileShareFreak.

Many proxies wont let you connect for long periods where there large amounts of data being shunted across them - remember they are paying for the bandwidth you use.
