Default Connection problem

Hi, ive just bought a cheap DVD player for my TV in my bedroom, it is TV/DVD combo but the DVD has stoped working hence the new DVD player. I cant get it connected to my Virgin box, the box has two Scart sockets my TV has one socket & the DVD player only has one socket.
Please can someeone help me with the right connection. Thanks
