Default Dbox Conversion

Evening all , soon to be Cable refugee seeking asylum....

With the inevitable sh1t storm approaching i am exploring a few options , I have a couple of cable sagam dbox2 ( 2 chip ) boxes which are working for now.

When the sh1t hits the fan i would like to still use said boxes as satellite receivers. Would it be possible to change the tuners and images ? If so would they be compatible with a motorised system?

I know there is a lot of soldering to be done it wouldn't be plug and play , but i have good soldering skills and alot of patients for the right cause.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think your problem would be getting the firmware. While I suppose it would be possible to swap out the tuners in some homebrew fassion, I very much doubt you will find any firmware to make it work. And if all you would end up with is a FTA reciever I would think it would be more economical to just go buy a sat reciever.

these boxes have served us well , wasn't really a cost issue just don't want to bin them if they can be saved. Feels like having the family pets put down lol

the only reason to convert would be to use cs on satellite as there is not much open

and if cs servers pop up for cable you can still use them if you want to go down that route.
