Default tm9100 super

Hi again.

Just got a call the night to say my box is faulty, I got a pro installer to set the box up on his system as i was having problems with it.

He told me the box kept freezing the way your sly box does, when he reboots it all the information that was stored in the box was lost.He has been in touch with technomate helpline and they said it's the software, they said they can pass on information via email, he declined as it was only 3weeks old.

Has anyone else had a problem like this ? would it be advisable to notify the TMtech dept via email or send it back to be replaced.

Hi if you flashed the box with an image that is not a TM one they will send it back to you and tell you that you have violated the warranty. If you did flash the box, I would suggest that you flash it again with a different image, I do not have a 9100, but they are a Linux box so if you want it to do anything I would imagine that you would need to have a non TM image to use it as we use any Linux box. I could be very wrong, but I am sure someone who has a 9100 will be able to sort you out.

Regards Wez

Hi, as Wez points out the big question is did you flash new firmware to the box ? If so the warranty is void.

If it is only software you should be able to reflash the box yourself. The UR23 image is good, my box is running well on ur23 atm. You will also need a loader to flash the box. This can be done via LAN, or by MMC card. Unless your box is really screwed up then you might need a serial cable.

Hi it's not flashed yet!!!' It's only 4 weeks old.

I have been trying the past 2 evenings just to see if it would work without success.
when it freezes I turn it off from the mains for 10 seconds, I lose the motor settings.

My mate phoned technomate themselves and they say it sounds like a software problem.
would the flash fix the problem or would it be scfer to return it to the shop?

Hi again if I were you I would not flash the box, as I know if you do they will say that you modified the box and invalidated your warranty. If they are saying it is a software problem then send it back to them and let them sort it out. I would first mail them giving them any numbers that you can find on the box labels, then just wait till they mail you back, they will most likely ask you to send the box back to them, but demand that they pay for the return, as it is not your fault that you were supplied with their product, which is not fit for the purpose for which it was bought, they will send you a code to enable you to return it FOC at any PO.

I have added this, as I did not see the part about the shop till I read through the post again. If you bought it from a shop by all means take it back to them and let them try and when they see the extent of the problem they are bound to give you a working box or your money back, be firm and remember that the law is on your side, the item you purchased was not fit for the purpose for which you bought it.

It is such a pity that this has happened at this time of the year as it will be some time till you have the box, or a replacement, returned to you. Good luck with them and please do keep us informed, as any information could well be of help to some other member who has the same box.

Regards Wez

Yep fully agree with Wez here. Take it back to the shop. I would have thought they would give you an immidiate replacment, but as it's over 4 weeks you might have to wait a little. Hope you get it sorted though
