Default Very few Channels on DM500S

I have just got a DM500S and installed the enigma image and running it of a standard Sky dish. I can search over 100 Transponders but am only puicking up about 20 Chaneels, mainly the Living Channels and Bravo which I assume are all on the same transponder.

The signal strength to my Sky Box is fine, so Im wondering why of the same LNB (QUAD) I cant pick up many channels on the Dreambox.

Are the LNB's/Dish positioning that sensitive with a dreambox? or am I doing somthing else completely wrong?

Help appreciated

The first thing you need to do is to check your F connectors, the least piece of the shield touching the center wire will cause a short and therefore you signal and strength will suffer. You did not tell us what signal you are getting on the 500s, this would have a bearing on the advice we can give you.

Not that sure why you want to have a 500s on only the Astra group of satellites at 28E, you really need to have a motorised dish to benefit from a DMM box, What is it you are looking to receive from 28E? You need to understand that the only channels you will get from that satellite are the free ones, the same ones you can get on a Sly box, without a paid up card in it, with the exception of Sly 1 and Ch 4 HD.

Hi Ive checked the F connectors and hooked up the DMM to my good sky box connections as well and still get the same lack of channels, even though I obviously get them all through my sly box.

Basically I was going to see if I could get used to the DMM box and then I was going to get the motorised dish, but just thought I would start with the basics and then expand

The SNR can show between 40% and 60% on some transponders though.

How long does a full scan normally take, mines lasting 2 minutes if that

i had the same problem. i installed some boquets and many chans not displaying. snr on sky movies was like 64. you need 70 and above on a db 500s check the snr . if low then not aligned properly . tharts why no chans on transponder scan. i gave my sat dish a hefty hit and got all the channels.

Hi mate get a settings file and use dreamboxedit to send it to the box, at least then you will know that you have all the correct frequencies in there. The beauty of using a settings file is that you do not have to scan anything at all, BTW a scan of all transponders on Astra 2 should take longer than a couple of minutes. Make sure the settings file is an E1 file not an E2 one. By what you are saying it would appear that you do not have all the transponders covered.

Hi,
I have noticed that my DM 500s box have some Frequencies & SR already input there,so when I try to scan. The box does the dictated job of utilising the frequencies
and SR . I have gone on Lyngsat and take some latest frequencies( 68.5* E) (they are
different from the old ones on the box) and I change the frequencies, before started to scan.
This method permits me to get 20 channels through the offset dish.

May be it imperative that you insert in the box what latest frequencies available from lyngsat. A blindscan receiver will scrutinize all channels on the trans[ponder, whereas
DM 500 S does not have that ability.

Please correct me , as I want to learn more.

Hope this will help,
Best Wishes,
kadnor
