Default Concrete / Cement Burns

Just thought i'd share this with you all....

I was laying some concrete as a favor for a friend and was kneeling in it at one point. I didnt know at the time but it was chemically burning off my skin.

The stuff is like caustic soda and has a similar ph.

This is the result....

If anyone does the same as me its rinse with lots of cold water and a dilute mixture of vinegar and water.

Then its up to the Casualty dept!

Looks very sore.

A mate a while back got some in his boots, so I was aware of the dangers, so always careful with the stuff.

Hope it heals up soon mate.

6 months on and im still very badly scarred. the left knee just has a bit of redness to it about the size of a 50p peice.

The right knee has a whopping 6 inch squared burn covering the majority of me knee cap and a bit bellow.

Called one of these Accident helplines lastnight and their very keen to fight my case for me.

Ok so its not going to impair my ability to walk or work but it sure looks a mess!

I'm already sick of telling people why i wear a compression dressing on it nevermind telling people the whole story.

I find myself saying 'No it's not a birth mark' quite a lot.
