awrite guys i have a dsi that updated its self now the r4i card reader wont work i have read a few posts and tried the new software but i cant seem to get the thing to work

Hi,

No you wont need anew card reader just a new R4i card that is 1.4 compatible. Most of them are these days. Let me know if you would like a recommendation.
