Default Who will survive??

I was just wondering when we are all hit with Nag 3, what percentage of people buy boxes for freeview or the dark side, the companies that will close down and also websites like this, will they survive?

I am just waiting for that dreaded phone call from someone who got a new card for their box.

btw Merry Christmas everyone

IMO, Eurovox will sell c/s receivers but not for Sky UK, seeing as though they have really good lawyers lol, or they'll sell c/s receivers that arent plug and play, so they work on the same principle as dreamboxes. Im keeping mine, simply as I can switch between cable and sat whenever I feel like it lol

I dont think it would be hard for eurovox or anyone to produce a plug&play freesat box as well as a cable version that has what i like to refer to as lan capability, with fta firmware they would not be breaking any laws whatsoever.

I would like to see the Eurovox to become capable of receiving all the freeview channels and not just a few after the encryption change over. Thereby saving us the expense of going out and buying another box. Maybe just a firmware update if that would be possible.

Why assume any of these companies will close or even be more than marginally affected ?

In nearly all cases, the boxes they make for the UK market are only a tiny proportion of their total business. The majority of box makers make boxes under all kinds of different names for many different markets.

Very good point coder and they will not be in any hurry to go mad looking to sell Linux boxes for the simple reason it would cost a load to made them and there is a big doubt about whether CS will be around for that much longer.

Problem is that a lot fo the guys will not accept the fact that things are changing and are grasping at straws, they have no idea about how Linux boxes work or what a battle it is to get them right. They have been getting it too easy for too long and will not have the patients to get to grips with any box that requires any input from them. Hell they will not even search this forum for answers, just ask and hope to have everything handed to them on a plate.

Season's Greetings Wez

Too right they have !

I've thought for a long while now that no one that cant program their own Mosc (and sort dates etc) shouldn't even be helped other than to point them to the relevant reading material !

Once they've read and digested at least the basic info, then they can ask questions.
