Default Rumours of cable mega encryption

Hi there all.

I am a total noob to the forum and cable in general.
I have recently done a bit of research on eurovoxes and other recievers.
You know how you all were when you took the first steps...........It's a fast learning curve. Hell mine hasn't even arrived yet but I think I will be ok with the ins and outs of it all.

Anyway back to my title heading. I told a guy at work about the deal and support I have recieved from my stockist. The colleague is a bit of a rogue to begin with and is offay with cable mods of this and other types.

Cut to the chase, he knows a guy who works for en-tee-el and was informed by the cabler that:- "The One Who Hasn't Had Sex" Media, is about to implement the same type of encryption as "The One Above" TV, who they are alledgedly in talks with ragarding this. Within this is supposed to be a signal to kill all non-subscribing recievers. I am told it's not a key roll.

I was informed this will happen in 2010 sometime.

Can anyone confirm this?
If this happens, is it likely that vox team will get past this?

Any replies will be eagrely read and studied.

The boxes will definitely become useless early in 2010,thats almost a certainty at the moment ...in certain parts of the country the change has already taken place and their boxes are useless and will be for the forseeable future ..those are the facts as things stand at the moment ...no-one and I mean no-one knows what the future holds for these boxes ... there is no fix nor is there likely to be, it was inevitable it would happen, the cable suppliers knew there were so many people getting programs for free and not even paying the lowest subscription rates,it had to happen, blame them, not the cable suppliers for this problem..... goose and golden egg come to mind .......

If some are ok and others not it might just be that the channels are doing maintainence or similar or it might be a frequency problem,if it wre me I would be doing a full scan , not a channel update one,and see if that does anything connecting your set top box proves your signal is ok up to a point, but the virgin box is nowhere near as sensitive to signals as the cable boxes are .....

Many thanks for the replies.

Did a bit of reading on the subject last night and it seems I have thrown good beer money down the drain then eh?

Oh well Hopefully I'll get a month or two out of it.

BTW I have the xl package and live in the NW area. Will VM be sending out new cards to all subscribers or will they consider those who are paying for the premium services as trustworthy and leave them with their existing cards?

If this is the case then maybe I will get some use from it allbeit for services I am paying for with a few more on top.

Anyone have any info on this?

Cheers ppl

Hi for the N3 encryption to work the box needs a new card, therefor everyone will get a new card. You will get what you pay for, no more free VM for anyone, when the N3 is rolled out for all.

Regards Wez

hi dogboy.im afraid new(n3) cards will be issued to ALL subscribers.when the switchover happens it will render the old cards and eurovoxs, kryptview boxes etc useless as mine now is as im in leeds where n3 has already been rolled out.:-(

Out of curiosity how does it work with the v+ box which doesn`t have a card,or at least i don`t think it has a card???
i presume they can just zap it down the line which begs the question why don`t they just do all the v+ boxes in one fail swoop.
