Question Eurovox EX7000

Hi a mate has told me to buy Eurovox EX7000. With either of these I will be able to view Virgin Media TV.

My mate also told me that I need to wipe the firmware and add a new one on. Not 100% sure why?

Should I do this.

Your mate should have advised you to get a Starview combi if you want HD because of the ethernet port

With any current box, yes. I would instead recommend you either get any of these receivers:
a) Starview combi
b) a used £50ish receiver(your best bet as a beginner) Dont buy a Dreambox as a beginner, unless your mate can mod it for you
c) an Openmedia like mine, though not recommended for beginners
d) A Dreambox 800HD clone-not stable yet though I think and not for beginners
e) A Dreambox 800HD original- expensive and not for beginners

The way box manufacturers import the receivers legally is because they're loaded with FTA(freeview) firmware. This makes them legal to own, but illegal to use on a VM network. Once you download the firmware for it, you then have the illegal one and this makes them illegal to modify

i have 2 boxes in the house one is starview and second eurovox ex5000, thought will buy a projector with hd facility and a box with hd feature?
but , that is how i feel now!1
i have been using for over 2 years eurovox gives a lot more facility like auto channel scan also pvr so i find eurovox a lot better but people over here have much more knowledge than i do.

like I said get a SV HD. Stick around as well,as you'll most likely need a motorised (moving) dish soon for continued free channels

Its not a hassle for VM no.TBH, if I owned VM I would be looking to secure my system to stop people pirating my service and that is what they are doing.Heres to hoping prices come down lol, though I highly doubt it

The only people inconvenienced are those with dodgy boxes
