before you buy anything, check dishpointer, com to see what birds your able to see.

it may be that a motorised dish isnt best and a monoblock or other methods might be more suited.

if your going to be able to get most of the south sky, a 1m dish should be ok but others might be able to advise you more. you'll then need a motor and a receiver which support usals for ease of instal and use

Assumming you can get the satellites there is not much available for free, apart from the Digi TV package on Thor open with a patch on a Technomate or similar receiver, but this package won't be around long for free as Digi TV are changing encryptions, and once it does the only other route is via official sub and these start from £150 for some footy going up to over £1000 for a card that gives sport, films and kids stuff. The other way is via C/S (as a retailer I cannot advise or discuss this for legal reasons!)

You would need a subscription card, There is very little open on patches now as Southern Satellite has said. If you go for a technomate reciever they will read a big veriety of cards. Otherwise you may have to by a CAM to read the card via the recievers common interface slot.

Art is on Hotbird and a 100cm dish will be fine cost of this card is around £100 just for Sport but don't expect much EPL on it. You will need a card as its not open on a emulator, as I said the only decent package that is is the Digi TV one which does show EPL but for how much longer it will be open on emulator is anyones guess?
