ok you download a file before youve zipped it it will be like this

EX6000SD-KURO2_204p_20091125 (plus the file lol cant take screen shots only gonna show you the writing bit lol)

now just unzip or unrar and you get a text document and the actual file which only says KURO2 nothing else written next to KURO2, you do get info underneath as ive written below but in black you will only see KURO2

it will look like this (plus the image of the file)

KURO2
STB FILE
1,099KB

SORRY CANT TAKE SCREEN SHOTS. just put this on your usb device and insert in the box dont change anything to .stb

so dont have it looking like this

KURO2.stb
STB FILE
1,099KB

just see if this works its a long shot lol. or probably wont make a difference

and if youve done it vice versa then switch the ways lol
keep us informed mate,

i think it will be difficult for people to help you because alot of us with the box havent really had any major problems or majority havent had any at all.

just noticed in your earlier post dont know if you just put a full stop after when you wrote

"KURO2.stb." get rid of the . at the end so it is KURO2.stb and not KURO2.stb.

i dont know if this how you actually done it or just writing full stop at the end of a sentence lol but trust me little things like this make a difference usually or maybe not in this case who knows lol

Yeah sorry it was just the end of the sentance lol thanks anyway.
Ok, now i have done exactly as you have told me.
Do i need to have the box turned on and left for a little while before i put the usb in or have it in and then turn the box on?

iv tried both ways but it doesnt seem like it is reading anything off the usb as there is no light on my pen stick when i put it in.
There is power going to the box because there is a red light on the back of the box for the optical output but thats all i get. Nothing on the tv, nothing at all.

Thanks

i had the box turned on and just plug in usb and look at the front of your ex6000sd and see what happens it should show firmware being uploaded, once its done press menu on remote go to installtion and scan. or press menu and check the firmware has been updated otherwise if its gone onto the box but not installed u can do this manually i think.

report back as to what your box does when you put in the usb have your box turned on but on standby

you could check to see if by anychance youve knocked off your scart on the box, it usually only happens with faulty firmware or when u jtag a box i had a guide on here you could see if that fixes it. disconnect scart from tv to box use the wire you use to connect your vcr upto your tv lol ive forgotten the name of it, and scan manually on ur tv using ur tv remote see if that brings up anything on your tv. make sure u have box connected to tv but not by scart lead. THIS IS A LONG SHOT as it seems to be your box isnt accepting the firmware but like i said i will try to help you out. i am chucking everything at you lol but something has to work hopefully/

so 1st try this

put firmware on usb stick AND have box on standby
see what happens on the screen on the front of the box. and try to get into menu if u get pic on tv and scan

if not but firmware has goneonto box then press menu and try installing firmware (how to do this is on the sheet of paper that came with the box)

if nothing works but u think firmware is on box even if u dont know then disconnect scart lead and connect ur box upto ur tv with coaxial wire and get remote for tv and manually scan on tv like you would normally for tv channels, see if anything comes up

also very important make sure all cables are connected properly.

I have tried all the things you have told me about 2-3 times but no joy.
Nothing is working sorry.

The only thing the box does when turned on by the power switch at the back is it displays the for lines on the front display dissapearing from left to right, then when they have dissapeared i get no response from anything. The standby light on the front does not light up and the remote does not do anything either. i have changed the batteries just incase but nothing.

Thanks

Unfortunatly i aint got a null cable so i am in the process of purchasing one...
iv had a look around at other forums and they all tell me that i have to reflash my box with the following version using the RS232 Loader EX600SD:

www(dot)box(dot)net/shared/bsef09y558

Obviously i cant try this but if this works for you please let me no.

Thanks

Hi Guys, I have just read through some other forums and you will get it going by flashing it through the COM port method as Lincsat says in an earlier post.

No need for jtagging or anything like that, just a simple flash (just like the old way for all boxes) will suffice.

Cheers.

many thanks guys i sorted it out by the lincsat way but my problem was i was using vista which never allowed the program to load via null cable. i switched to a older pc running XP and it went straight on. wish i had done it the first place, it would have saved a lot of time.
many thanks again..
