Default Warranty on Eurovox EX7000

I am trying to find out the procedure if a Eurovox box stopped working and is still under warranty. I understand we have 1 year warranty on these boxes. I bought a box 10 months ago but now it has stopped working and not coming on at all.

I will really appriciate your help on this as I dont know how to sort this out.

Thanks.

depending on who you purchased the box from i would say your warranty is as good as useless as most box warranties are invalidated as soon as you put the firmware on which gives you all the goodies.not what you want to hear but i guess if you've had it 10 months you've not really lost out.

A warranty only stands if the item is left with original firmware and has not been tampered with. As soon as you open it or flash it (as mark36 rightly said), you void any warranties that the box ever had.

i agree the warranty is void.... but the box isnt working... so let the seller prove you changed the firmware.!!

id contact the selelr and say i have been using it for 10 months for freeview channels and now it doesnt work... and seek a replacement... they might not even be able to fix it enough to check what firmware is on!!

sureley thats what the op should do?

its a risk but what has he to lose?

regards dave

If you'r supplier doesnt honour the warranty you should come back on and name and shame him, this way members will stay away from them in future.

Thanks for all your replies,

I bought this from dvb junkie website which is not online at the moment. I have tried contacting them via email and also sent messages to ZEMME who I think was running it but no reply so far.

The firmware was already installed on it so I haven't even updated that yet but I think the box was covered even if the software was updated on it according to that website. The Eurovox seal is still there on the box.

For a day or two it was just saying rebooting then going dead and I would then unplug it from the mains then it would work. But it did the same thing couple of days ago and never cam back on and is showing very dimmed red stripes on the display.

Any suggestions please?

I am from West yorkshire area but not from Leeds so I dont think it is do with VM's new encryption testing as all the other boxes in my area are working fine.

I have got the following information from another forum from the guy who had exactly the same problem as me.

"Two capacitors on the power board have blown.
if you open your box up look at it head on, to the left is the power board you need to desolder two points c12 and c14 you sholud see the capacitors are abit raised on the top where they have blown resolder new capacitors, they are 10v capacitor thats the problem. i replaced mine with 12v works perfect."

I think Zemme is an honest guy but he is not active at the moment. I am not sure if I should wait for him to contact me or get it repaired?

Thanks.
