Default Newbie, How to set up a modem from Scratch

If you are new and have no clue how to Hack a modem then this is the place to be, first of all if you have some idea and just want a little help then you will get it, however you have no clue at all no one will help you on any forum at all.

Ive had a post running for a while and although many have looked at the post perhaps 45, no one has posted a reply it only shows how many people want to find out how to do it, there is nothing except the Hays but all the links are old and don't work, the information given is for advance users so we have no chance.

Ive spent 40 hours reading the forums and downloads and still cant get it to work, however its complicated for first time users so i can understand the time it would take for members to give advice, however I ended up paying £30 for a flashed modem and that's not the end of the story, I had to get a mac address and load that in, but that was so easy and now I have a working modem at last, so go down that road.

All fellow members be advised that I'm not having a go at you but this should be good advice to get you up and running, no doubt some members will have a negative response to this, I hope not.

So to sum your story up.... you bought a pre-flashed modem, spent hours searching the forum, entered a MAC address into the modem and you are now up and running?

No I spent hours on the forum could not find the answer, no member gave advice, then purchased a flashed modem and got it working, you have it the wrong way round did not buy a flashed modem first, so what are you saying ?, are you new or advanced. ?

My post count speaks for me. I may not be the most knowledgable member of this forum however, I know what I am talking about and I will admit that I don't know much about modems but I know enough to see me through. I prefer boxes and consoles personally but I do the odd modem now and then .

Its funny I expect more replies to this post than I got from the first one, I have given loads of help on other post like Eurovox cable box.
As i said I'm not having a go at members, i understand its complicated, however if any one want to respond to the above link I would be happy, for future ref.

Read the Haynes Cable Modem Bible, everything you need to know about that modem should be in there .
